Great write up as always Mike.

Given the relatively recent losses of guys like Rick Rypien, Derek Boogard and Wade Belak, this is definitely a conversation that need to be had

Awesome!! I have had numerous conversations with ignorant, uninformed people on this topic. The stigma that still surrounds mental illness is frustrating so let's get the conversation going and keep it going.

Absolutely Michael . Always somebody to talk to that is willing to listen , even if you want to type it in here . Whatever helps get by such a tough area of life

Meanwhile , boltprospects reporting they heard rumours of lupul from the leafs , but that is crazy . The last thing we need is another top 6 forward , we already have 8, arguably 9

If you want a guy to join Carle and Gudas on the sidelines on a consistent basis; Lupul would make sense. (no thanks) He's hurt way too often. The leafs have a thing for picking up players that love sitting on the sidelines just ask Booth. Guy farts and is on the IR with a pulled hammy.

We need D. After last nights poor performance, its evident changes are needed on the back end. Sustr had a terrible game, too many giveaways. Not a fan of him and Babs on a line.

From the realm of wishful thinking :

http://thehockeywriters.c...ilers-should-contemplate/

Eberle and Fasth for Vasy and Gudas.

Nope. Nope. Nope.

Maybe this : Eberle and a 1st for Vasy.

I just don't see Yzerman moving Vasy who is pegged as our future franchise goalie.

Do these people realize how hard it is to come across franchise goalies?

"In trading Eberle, the Oilers would be moving one of the young, highly skilled forwards which they have accumulated over the past years. He is a proven NHL star and offensive producer whose presence on the Lightning would give Tampa Bay incredible offensive depth."............ Ya cause we obviously aren't overflowing with offensive depth already

We as tampa fans know how hard it is to find a goalie no way they move vasy. And if yzerman did move him it would be for Connor mcdavid

Vasy is so overvalued by bolts fans. You don't need a stud goalie to win the cup.

So thats a reason to trade away the biggest goalie talent in many years?

I think our reasoning is right to overvalue vas... The Canadiens or Bruins wouldn't just go out and trade Price or Rask because "you don't need a good goalie to win the cup." You never trade away franchise talents, whether it be forward defense or goalie and if you do it'll be for a hell of a package. Eberle by himself is definitely not enough by himself and his value isn't as high for a bolts team that is already stacked on offense.

No, you don't, but it certainly helps.

Grant Fuhr won 6 Cups while playing at a level considered average by today's standards, but he was helped by having a couple of decent players in front of him.

You make it sound like Crawford is some pile of junk. There were many elite saves that some "average" goaltender would have never made to reach their last cup. Besides ive watched Vasy play and that kid is the real deal. You dont take a chance on trading a developing goaltender of his talent level unless a) youre getting a damn good return or b) youre damn sure of your current goaltending situation for a very long time. Id think Yzerman would need a combination of both a and b or there would be no deal.

I would trade Bishop before i traded Vasy. Is it me or does it seem like Bishop hasnt been squaring off to the puck this season like he did last? I understand he wasnt going to repeat last season, but he does not seem comfortable at all out there. For a goalie his size, he leaves a lot to shoot at. He's still a very good goalie, but i wouldn't be surprised if Vasy outplays him in a year or two, before his contract ends.

And the Eberle trade? Lightning couldn't take on his contract without giving some back.

I haven't been impressed with bishop at all this season.

nobody was talking about bishop before the allstar break, when he was playing lights out..

1 bad game after a week break and now nobodies impressed, the only bad thing about bishop has been the multiple times he lets in the very first shot on net, and even most of those have not been his fault, its just an energy killer, big time.

bishop has not been the vezina goaltender we had last season, but I for one am glad he doesn't need to be. i'd rather make sure we're playing well and limiting shots than see bishop have to stand on his head all night.

plus, bishops numbers are low because we allow few shots on net, so if he lets in 1 goal on 18 shots or 2 goals on 22 shots it looks worse than if he had 35 shots and saved the last 15 still allowing 2 goals, bishop is a great goalie

I dont care about his numbers, really, I just notice he doesnt seem as comfortable this year as he did last. He can play better.

Letting in the first shot multiple times is a HUGE deal in my book. Its hard to win games when your playing from behind from the very start. Regardless, I'm just being honest when I say I haven't been impressed. It seems like he will make some stupid saves and stand on his head but then let a really softie in 2 minutes later. I won't fully blame him though, since we don't have a reliable backup I think he sometimes is overworked.
